In a recent video, the well-known activist VeryDarkBlackMan responded to criticism from Kanayo O. Kanayo and other actors after expressing his views on Mr. Ibu’s health.
On October 18, 2023, VeryDarkBlackMan called out top actors in Nollywood for not reaching out to Mr. Ibu, who is currently hospitalized. He expressed his embarrassment over the situation and pointed out the lack of organizational structures within the Nollywood industry. He emphasized that there should be a plan in place to support veteran actors and legends.
However, this video didn’t sit well with actors like Kanayo O. Kanayo, Anita Joseph, Nosa Rex, and others. Kanayo stated that VeryDarkBlackMan seemed to be using Mr. Ibu’s illness to gain attention, emphasizing that actors in the industry were already working on providing financial assistance to Mr. Ibu. Kanayo also suggested that VeryDarkBlackMan should feel ashamed of his comments, as he appeared to have a limited understanding of what was happening in the Nollywood industry.
