In a recent interview with the well-known media figure, Jideowo Chude, the iconic actor revealed a fascinating incident. Agu recounted his encounter with billionaire tycoon Mike Adenuga, disclosing how he rejected a lucrative N10 million proposal to partake in a film project.
Agu further shared that at the juncture when the wealthy magnate presented the offer, he was financially strapped and hadn’t even accumulated up to N1 million. Despite his circumstances, he held out for a remarkable N20 million compensation.
The celebrated actor recounted that Adenuga eventually yielded and agreed to the N20 million demand after he asserted his intention to withdraw from the project.
Expressing his stance, he shared, “Chief Mike Adenuga proposed a sum of N10 million in the contract negotiation. Back then, I had never even handled N1 million, yet he was suggesting N10 million. I declined, firmly stating that unless it’s N20 million, I wasn’t interested.”
“He persisted, and I stood my ground. So, I decided to act as if I were about to leave and said, ‘Give me money for my return journey to Enugu. If there’s a flight available, book it so I can quietly head back.'”
“At the moment I stood up, they began to perceive my seriousness. Chief Mike Adenuga intervened, saying ‘Stay seated.’ He instructed his team to bring the necessary documents for signing. They presented the documents, and I appended my signature.”
“Right from that instant, a silent victory dance began. I orchestrated it in a tactful manner within the confines of the office. I didn’t want them to realize how significant N20 million was to me. However, it was an immensely meaningful moment in my life.”
