Popular Afrobeats artist Davido has launched an attack on the mentor figure of music producer Napji after Napji publicly accused him of failing to compensate him for his work.

On April 23rd, 2024, Napji created a stir on Instagram by alleging that the acclaimed hitmaker, who was allegedly difficult to reach, withheld payment for his contributions to the highly successful tracks “Fem,” “Jowo,” and “Sunlight” from the 2020 album “A Better Time.”

Napji claimed that he only received an advance payment of N500k for each song, amounting to a total of N1.5 million.

Expressing his demand for royalties and publishing rights, Napji directly addressed Davido by tagging him on the photo and video-sharing platform.

He wrote; “I am Napji, producer behind Fem, Jowo and sunlight on @davido album (A better time).Which was released 13th November 2020.”

“I was paid an advance of 500 thousand naira for each of the songs. I will be releasing more information as I seek to collect my royalties & publishing”.
