Korra Obidi, the Nigerian dancer and singer who lives in the United States, came back to Nigeria. Just a few hours ago, she strongly expressed her dissatisfaction with the way she was treated by police officers while driving in Lagos.
She took to Instagram and shared a video where she talked about her recent night out with Talent Manager Frank Nwafor. In the video, she began by showing how her friend Frank asked a police officer if they could lock the car doors while they checked the vehicle documents. However, the police officer responded in a rude and forceful manner, using offensive language and telling Frank to forget about the car and pay attention to him.
She also talked about her initial encounter with a police officer, which was caught on camera. In the video, the officer was seen kneeling on the driver’s seat and thoroughly inspecting the inside of the vehicle.
In her narration, Korra explained how the police officers instructed her to step out of the car for a thorough search. She also included the moment when an officer sternly told her to stop recording him.
Her experience had a mix of emotions. In the video, she appeared excited while savoring a delicious snack of cooked corn and butter pear. She vividly described the tasty treat in her voiceover, all the while sharing the story of her enjoyable night out with friends.
In her words, she said:
“Attempting Taco Tuesday in Lagos. Several police stops with random men manhandling me and searching my bag and personal belongings @frankhasaplan.
Lagos Police, let the youth breath for God’s sake. If you dedicate this much energy to catching politicians who are looting, fuel will not be #560 Naira today. SMH”
