The Nigeria Police Force has apprehended the proprietor and key members of the infamous Gistlover Blog, following a formal complaint lodged by Honorable and Doctor Mrs. Seye Oladejo.
The arrests, related to a case involving Conspiracy, Cyberstalking, and Threats to life, were carried out in coordination with the police force’s spokesperson, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
The detained individuals have been identified as Adebukola Kolapo, Nnedum Micheal Somtomchukwu, and Isaac Akpokighe, believed to be part of a syndicate known as the Gistlover family.
This syndicate is alleged to be behind the operation of the Gistlover blog, a microblogging platform notorious for engaging in Cyberstalking, incitement, Blackmail, and other illicit activities that have raised public concern over time.
According to the police statement, during questioning, the suspects admitted to their involvement in the conspiracy, corroborating the substantial evidence already in the possession of the authorities.
Adebukola Kolapo, aka Omo oba Gistlover, is claimed to have played a significant role in creating more than 80 percent of the Gistlover pages, leaving a digital trail linking him to the commission of criminal acts.
It is alleged that Adebukola, purportedly receiving benefits from the platform, such as cars and monetary incentives, was involved in scouting, editing, captioning contents, and specifically targeting the complainant, Hon. and Dr. Mrs. Oluseyi Oladejo, with cyberstalking posts.
Additionally, Adebukola is accused of aiding in the laundering of funds acquired through these illegal schemes using various means.
The investigation revealed the existence of eight Gistlover pages, all reportedly created by Adebukola under the direction of the syndicate’s leader. Digital forensic analysis also led to the identification of wallet addresses linked to money laundering activities.
