Nigerian musician Akinbiyi Abiola Ahmed, who goes by the name Bella Shmurda, has opened up about his fellow artist Mohbad’s struggle, revealing that Mohbad tried to take his own life due to a dispute with his previous music label, Marlian Music.
Around the beginning of last year, Mohbad had publicly accused Naira Marley, his former label boss, on social media of instructing his associates to physically harm him. This incident led to Mohbad’s departure from the record label.
During an interview with the well-known media personality Chude Jideonwo, Bella Shmurda disclosed that Mohbad went through a difficult phase with his former record label, and it got so tough that Mohbad even contemplated suicide. Fortunately, his friends were there to intervene and prevent the tragic outcome.
In his words, he said:
“There was a time, me and Mohbad were in an apartment and Mohbad was like he wanted to jump from the upstairs because of the issues he was having with his record label. We held him by the window. Mohbad had almost jumped, it was his girlfriend that entered the room and saw him sitting down at the window.”
Bella Shmurda mentioned that Mohbad had to undergo therapy sessions and seek medical treatment for hypertension while dealing with the challenges stemming from his association with Marlian Music. This was a necessary step for Mohbad to overcome those difficulties and eventually recover.
