In a recent interview, Nigerian singer and actress Tiwa Savage discussed dealing with the fallout from the leak of her private video in October 2021. She shared how disturbing it was to discover that blackmailers had targeted her with the intimate footage showing moments with a former partner.
As a mother, Tiwa Savage found the ordeal especially troubling. Speaking with Angie Martins on Power 105.1 in New York, she opened up about the difficult experience and decisive steps she took in response to the leaked tape. The acclaimed Afrobeats star recounted the distress caused by having such a personal video exposed without consent.
Tiwa Savage stressed that her main concern centered around how the leaked tape could affect her son, Jamil. In her first public acknowledgment of the issue after three years, she conveyed a sense of relief and highlighted her swift actions to directly address and limit the impact.
Tiwa Savage revealed that she had reached out to an IT specialist for help in removing the video from the internet and deleting it from people’s mobile devices. Taking care of the problem in this way brought her reassurance, as she focused on shielding her child from potential harm stemming from the unauthorized distribution of the private footage.
She said; “My biggest fear about my sex tape leaking was that my son might one day see it.
But I got in touch with an IT expert who hacked the video from the internet and everyone’s mobile device. Right now, you can’t find it anywhere. Even if you had it stored on your phone, it’s gone.”
