On Thursday, September 19, the body of the late Nigerian singer Mohbad was removed from its grave in Ikorodu. What they found inside the coffin was quite disturbing, and it has led to demands for justice.
Mohbad had passed away on September 12, 2023, and his burial on the very next day in an unusual place raised suspicions. Videos started circulating on the internet, showing Mohbad’s grave after it was dug up. Some people claimed to have seen blood, which raised questions about whether he might have been buried while still alive.
The presence of fresh blood inside the coffin, even though eight days had passed since his burial, left everyone shocked and puzzled. These discoveries have sparked various speculations and have led to calls for a thorough autopsy to uncover the truth.
In the tweet shared on Thursday, Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos state police spokesperson, confirmed that the law enforcement agency has completed the exhumation of the late singer’s corpse.
He added that an autopsy will commence immediately.
Joseph Aloba, the father of Mohbad, earlier revealed why he quickly buried his son.
Aloba said in Yoruba culture, it is “customary not to keep a deceased person’s body for long if both parents are alive”.
He said if Mohbad had passed away at an older age, he might have considered putting him in a mortuary.
On September 14, Aloba also said Mohbad had passed away after receiving an injection administered by an auxiliary nurse.
The Lagos police inaugurated a 13-man special investigation team to probe the death of the singer on Monday.
