Kanayo O. Kanayo, a well-known Nigerian movie veteran, has criticized Verydarkman for his comments about Nollywood actors in response to Mr. Ibu’s call for help.

Earlier, Mr. Ibu had reached out to the public for financial assistance and prayers while he was unwell. Verydarkman, who often joins in on trending discussions, immediately expressed his strong disapproval, considering Mr. Ibu’s public plea for help as a slight against his fellow actors.

He made it clear that he was deeply surprised by what he saw as the neglect of Mr. Ibu, which had forced him to share his troubles on social media. Verydarkman firmly stated that there was no valid excuse for not supporting Mr. Ibu, even if he was a well-paid actor. He argued that when faced with a health crisis that could happen to anyone, such arguments held no water.

Verydarkman emphasized that the Nollywood industry should have developed a structure to look after cinematic legends like Mr. Ibu, who had brought laughter and entertainment to the silver screen. He suggested that the bigwigs in Nollywood should set up a pension fund to support the industry’s veterans.

He strongly believed that if anything unfortunate were to happen to Mr. Ibu, those colleagues who had remained silent about his health challenges would suddenly be ready to contribute generously to his funeral expenses.

In response to this, Kanayo O. Kanayo criticized Verydarkman for trying to gain attention from Mr. Ibu’s situation. He argued that if someone felt moved to give, they should do so discreetly instead of going online to vent their opinions.

KOK specifically condemned Verydarkman for calling out Nollywood actors in the face of Mr. Ibu’s difficulties and described him as shameless, unruly, and seeking attention.

“#ONYEKAOZURU
Gaining traction with someone’s misfortune, handicap, ill luck is wicked.
Give, if you have to, without calling for the attention of the social media.
One ‘ very dark man’ calling top actors, shameless is unruly and attention seeking.
@realmribu please get well soon”
