Nollywood actress Angela Okorie shared her perspective on the controversy surrounding her fellow actor Zubby Michael in the wake of his reactions to the passing of his respected colleague Junior Pope.
Many criticized Zubby for his casual social media post at a time when others in the industry were mourning Junior Pope’s death. In response to the backlash, Angela alleged that Zubby has a history of rivalry within the film community, undermining relationships as part of striving to stand out.
She further stated that while Zubby was not a close associate or peer of the late Junior Pope, he routinely disregarded the established ranks and hierarchies within the Nigerian movie industry. Angela offered this viewpoint to help explain why Zubby would be reluctant to publicly grieve such a esteemed senior actor.
She made this known in the comment section of a blog post, stating;
“Dem no born am well to post Junior pop, he knows why he is running, nollywood knows his story with Junior pop, Nigga be fighting every1 cos he wanna be number 1 of nollywood, mind you Junior pop na zubby Oga,” she wrote.
