Nigerian Afrobeat star Rema raised some eyebrows recently when he cut short his set at the Dreamville Festival due to sound issues. Held over two days on April 6-7, the event featured a star-studded lineup including J.Cole, Nicki Minaj, 50 Cent, SZA and more.

While performing his breakthrough hit “Calm Down”, Rema faced multiple technical difficulties that disrupted his performance. He highlighted that the other artists had no such problems with their sound. Frustrated, Rema threatened to leave the stage if the sound problems were not addressed. His abrupt exit from the show amidst struggling with poor sound quality surprised many in attendance.

He said: “Too many many sound issues. It’s messing up my whole performance. I’m seriously not feeling this sh!t at all. It’s too messed up. I am representing Africa, this is too messed up. The sound cannot be perfect for every artists that gets on this stage. Africa is in the house and you are messing sh!t up. I’ll walk out the stage bro.”

Apparently, the sound issues wasn’t resolved so Rema walked off the stage.

dimplesamaka: You paid me doesn’t mean you should frustrate my efforts… If you love how he reacted

onias_closet_ng: Burna for don use timberland march instrumentalist neck 😂😂😂😂.

tinlasa: Rema is proud button.

young.hero06: Confidence and Pride look alike…Humbleness and Shyness look alike… I will rather be confident and let people mistake it for Pride than to be humble and let them mistake it for Shyness.

skinark_ng: As a great performer, he should have told them to turn off the sound system, and sing like that with his audience instead of rudely walking away! Always learn to compromise.

evve__lynn: I love how rema walked out.. he deserves to be treated better than that.

different.chris: Rema is not proud. He demanded openly what most of your favs fold for. These people intentionally cut sounds to limit African performances. Many artist complain about these things but not openly as Rema just did. Before, they even use to give Africans awards at the backstage until Wizkid did same thing.. When you get to the top, leave a mark and at least correct something.
