Nigerian Afrobeats artist, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has shared insights into his father’s response to his non-win at the Grammy Awards.

Davido conveyed that being nominated for the 66th Grammy Awards was an accomplishment in itself, filling him with pride. Despite not securing a victory in any of the three categories he was nominated for – Global Music Album (Timeless), Global Music Performance (Feel), and Best African Music Performance (Unavailable) – Davido reflected on his journey to stardom in a recent interview with Rolling Stone.

In the face of the Grammy setback, Davido revealed that his father reassured him, affirming that he remains a legend.

In his words, he said:

“Being nominated alone is enough to make me proud of myself. I just want my song to be heard on the radio once or twice in the beginning, but for it to transcend to this is just amazing and God’s doing.

“I was on the phone with my dad yesterday and he was like ‘Son no matter what happens, you are still a legend’. So yeah, he is a big fan.”
