The protest was triggered by perceived insults directed at the esteemed Oba of Benin by the socialite in a video that circulated last year.

The controversy originated from a video in which Bobrisky humorously suggested that the Oba of Benin should consider marrying him. While intended as a joke, the remark deeply offended many residents who interpreted it as a disrespectful challenge to Benin’s rich cultural heritage.

There are reports indicating that Bobrisky is scheduled to attend an event in the state, prompting a spontaneous and fervent response from the Benin youths who gathered in large numbers to express their disapproval.

They brandished placards bearing messages such as “He is a bad influence; We don’t want him in our state,”

The video footage captured during the protest portrays a determined and vocal crowd expressing their rejection of Bobrisky’s presence.
